signified

birthmarks or beauty marks are marks on someone’s body that are usually there from birth. these marks have led individuals go through a long journey of acceptance because these individuals tended to stand out from society and were usually a target of potential remarks or negative comments.

as i am personally involved in this topic, the project “signified“ was made to honor and capture the beauty of 4 individual women, including myself, with certain types of beauty marks somewhere on their bodies. being involved, i know that each person went through a journey of acceptance and they carry a lot of stories regarding their marks which have signified each individual at some point.
